Life Matters on ABC Radio National
Wednesday July 24 9am - 10am live with Richard Aedy (repeated at 9pm)
Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs Mal Brough says real jobs need to be created for Indigenous people as the CDEP (Community Development Employment Projects) program is rapidly dismantled. Next month in Alice Springs the Aboriginal Employment Strategy opens its doors in the Northern Territory. It's a non-profit organisation specialising in placing Indigenous people in jobs and providing training and mentoring. So far it's found jobs for nearly 1,000 people in NSW, where the organisation began ten years ago in Moree.
