In December, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education said she was ``hit in the guts' by the latest figures on the extent of illiteracy among Indigenous students in remote Australia. Mr Speaker I now table the first annual report on Closing the Gap on Indigenous Disadvantage: The Challenge for Australia.
