Kuuku Ya'u Native Title Recognised
http://www.attorneygeneral.gov.au/www/ministers/RobertMc.nsf/Page/MediaReleases_2009_SecondQuarter_25June2009-KuukuYauNativeTitleRecognisedSNIPPET:
Attorney-General, Robert McClelland, today welcomed a historic recognition of native title by the Kuuku Ya'u people over parts of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The Land Use Agreement will govern the take of turtles and dugongs in the determination area and like the Native Title determination, does not restrict the wider community's access to the marine park. The Indigenous Land Use Agreement is an agreement between the Kuuku Ya'u People, the State of Queensland, the Northern Kuuku Ya'u Kanthanampu Aboriginal Corporation and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority on behalf of the Australian Government.
