Representatives of the Indigenous Doctors Association are meeting the Federal Health Minister Tony Abbott in Sydney this morning, to put their prescription for rolling out the child health checks in the Northern Territory.
The association's president, Dr Mark Wenitong, will tell the minister that regional indigenous health units should do the co-ordinating, and should orientate any health teams who come in.
He will also argue that the health checks will be meaningless without sustained back-up services for the longer term.
