Closing the Gap - Indigneous Health Project Officers in Divisions of General Practice

The Australian Government has provided $34.7 million over three years to fund 94 full-time equivalent new Indigenous Health Project Officer positions as a part of the COAG National Partnership Agreement on Closing the Gap in Indigenous Health Outcomes.

For the first time, COAG is holding a meeting with a focus on Indigenous issues. Associate Professor Tamara Mackean, President of the Australian Indigenous Doctors Association, also welcomed the Indigenous focus of this COAG meeting.

Overcoming Indigenous disadvantage: key indicators 2007

In April 2002, the Council of Australian Governments commissioned the Steering Committee to produce a regular report against key indicators of Indigenous disadvantage.
