6/08/2009Report on the Inquiry into Local Government Service Delivery to Indigenous CommunitiesAt the request of the then Minister for Local Government, the Local Government Advisory Board conducted an Inquiry into Local Government Service Delivery to Indigenous Communities.The Inquiry was prompted by the Bilateral Agreement on Indigenous Affairs, which was signed by the Commonwealth and State Governments in July 2006.

SNIPPET: Reports evaluating the performance of Government programs in delivering key services to Indigenous Australians were released today. The Evaluation of Service Delivery in Remote Indigenous Communities and Performance Audit of Australian Hearing Specialist Program for Indigenous Australians were undertaken by the Office of Evaluation and Audit (Indigenous Programs). The evaluation of service delivery in remote Indigenous communities focussed on 52 remote communities in the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia and sought community organisations' perspectives on how well Federal Government departments are delivering services into these communities.
